October 1 @ 1:00 pm - October 31 @ 1:00 pm

A Presentation from the World Walter 2024 Champion, The Display of the winning Waltes Games, and Presentation of Appreciation plaque from Chief and Council and Director of Community Culture & Heritage.

The Game of Waltes. Waites, also called woltestakun or altestakun is a kind of dice gamethought to be of pre-Columbian origin. It is played on a circular wooden dish (usually of rock maple) about twelve inches in diameter, hollowed to three-quarters of an inch at its centre. There are six dice made of caribou bone with flat faces and rounded sides; one face being plain, and the others bearing a dotted cross. When all the marked or all the unmarked faces are turned up there is a count of five points. If five marked faces and one unmarked face or five unmarked faces and one marked face are turned up one point is given, and if a die falls off the dish there is no count.

This Year at the World Waltes championships the winner was Molly Pierro, whom was undefeated during the Millbrook Millbrook Waltes on July 12th• 2024. Pierro played a total of six games at the championship and won each of them, earning her first place, a champion medallion, and a handmade Waltes bowl made by Chad Denny.
