Mi’kmaq History Month Gathering of our Mi’kmaq Honoring Kji Saqmaw Membertou

Wasoqopa’q First Nation is unique in the fact that the whole First Nation encompasses communities. This event will take place in the Ponhook Mi’kmaw Community, this event will be for all of our community members living on reserve and off reserve the opportunity to come together with other Mi’kmaw of Nova Scotia to honor Grand Chief Membertou. We will host this event to allow our Traditional Elders to conduct Ceremony to honour the conversations and history of the true burial site for the Grand Chief Membertou in the Screecher located in Lake Rossignol, Queens County, Nova Scotia. We will have the opportunity to learn and share the Mi’kmaw history and culture, learn the history of the first peoples of this land we call Mi’kma’ki.
