Open to all students, staff, and faculty
Please join Catherine Martin, our Nancy’s Chair in Women’s Studies, and the Aboriginal Student Centre for an MSVU community gathering (Mawiomi) celebrating Mi’kmaw History Month. All students, staff, and faulty are welcome (and encouraged!) to attend. Please drop in for a quick refreshment, or to chat with friends and colleagues. Refreshments and snacks will be served.
- Welcome and opening—9:00am- 9:30am
- Blanket Exercise with —9:30am-12:00pm
- Mawiomi/Social—12:00pm—3:00p
- Special Guest, Aaron Prosper from Eskasoni First Nation will be singing songs, teaching us how to dance the unique Mi’kmaq dance called the Kojua!
- Learn how to play the ancient Mi’kmaq game called Waltes.
Please join us for a day of learning and lots of laughter and fun!
*There will be open mic as well for anyone who wants to share some songs, stories, or poetry*
