Community Activities Support Initiative for Mi’kmaq History Month

Program Goals:

• Assist programs/events in achieving the respective outcomes
• Stimulate an increase in Mi’kmaq History Month Activities across Nova Scotia
• Support communities in promoting Mi’kmaq History Month activities
• Support communities in maintaining an interest in Mi’kmaq History Month
• Increase public awareness and participation in Mi’kmaq History Month
• Increase attendance at Mi’kmaq History Month events

Activities Assisted

• Funding will be allocated to projects that encourage and support Mi’kmaq History Month
• The program is intended to assist one-time projects and will not provide on-going support


• Mi’kmaq groups, organizations, or communities in Nova Scotia are eligible to apply
• Mi’kmaq History Month activities/associated activities are eligible for funding
• Applicant must provide proof of endorsement from chief and council/First Nations Community (section 4 of application)

Application Procedure

• All sections of the application must be completed in full
• Completed application forms must be signed and dated
• Applications can be sent via mail or in person
• In cases where funding is received, the applicant must submit a brief write-up/explanation that includes photos of the event/activity and is to be submitted one month after the implementation of a MHM event/activity


This is for one-time events taking place during October and not on-going support. Assistance up to $2000 is available for successful applications.
