Blending genres from rock\, jazz\, improvised experimental\, spoken word and ambient orchestral music\, the Thundermakers maintain a foothold in the past\, while always pushing towards a better future for Indigenous Peoples everywhere. They have received three nominations for Indigenous Artist of the Year from the East Coast Music Association (2019\, 2021\, 2022) and won Indigenous Artist of the Year in 2018 and 2019 from Music Nova Scotia.

SUMMARY:Mi'kmaq Treaty Day
DESCRIPTION:Mi’kmaq Treaty Day 2024 will take place over two days\, beginning on September 30th with a Mi’kmaw Cultural Showcase and Veteran’s Parade in Halifax. On October 1st\, the celebration continues with a Mi’kmaw church service at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica\, followed by a flag raising ceremony at Government House\, including drumming\, prayer\, and remarks from dignitaries. The day will conclude with the Treaty Day Awards at Pier 21\, recognizing achievements within the Mi’kmaw community. These events serve to honour the living Mi’kmaw treaties and reaffirm the strong relationship between the Mi’kmaq and the Crown.
