SUMMARY:ELAPULTIEK- "We are looking forward"
DESCRIPTION:Actors Shalan Joudry and Matthew Lumley. Photo credit Malachy Schwartz \nELAPULTIEK (ehl-ah-bool-dee-egg) \nPerforming on Saturday\, November 2\, 2019 \nTime: 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm \nPlace: Black Loyalist Heritage Centre \nElapultiek (“we are looking towards”) is a 2-person play written by Bear River First Nation (L’sitkuk) playwright Shalan Joudry. Commissioned by Two Planks and a Passion Theatre\, the show was a huge success as an outdoor performance last summer at Ross Creek Centre for the Arts. Now\, Elapultiek begins its journey as a touring indoor production\, continuing its effort to inspire acts of Reconciliation.  \n In the time of Idle No More\, a young Mi’kmaw drum singer and a Euro-Nova Scotian biologist meet at dusk each day to count a population of endangered Chimney Swifts. As the relationship deepens over time\, they struggle with their differing views of the world. Each ‘count night’ reveals a deeper complexity of connection to land\, history\, and ecology\, and of reconciliation on a personal level.
