SUMMARY:Mi'kmaq Resource Centre Open House
DESCRIPTION:October is Mi’kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia. The goal of the month is to help Nova Scotians build awareness of Mi’kmaq history and heritage\, and to increase understanding of the province’s rich Mi’kmaq culture. Treaty Day\, (October 1st) marks the beginning of Mi’kmaq History Month in Nova Scotia\, and is followed by a number events hosted throughout the province\, including some at CBU/Unama’ki College. Please see below to learn how to join in the celebrations. \n \nWednesday\, October 12th\, 2016 \nMi’kmaq Resource Centre House \n9:00am- 3:00pm \nStop in for a cup of coffee/tea and a treat while you learn all about what the Mi’kmaq Resource Centre does and how they can help you with your research and studies. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Millbrook Cultural & Heritage Centre are pleased to announce that we will be having a Speakers Series during the Month of October to celebrate Mi’kmaq History Month.  This week we invite you to come and listen to Kerry Prosper.  So please come out and join us for a fun filled evening.  See attached poster for more upcoming Speaker Series events:mikmaq-history-month-speaker-series-poster \n \nPresenter Bio:  \nKerry Prosper- October 12\, 2016 from 6-8pm \nPaq’tnekek First Nations \nKerry Prosper is a Mi’kmaq Elder\, Pipe Carrier. Kerry Prosper is a member of the Paq’tnekek Mi’kmaq First Nations community located along the shores of St. Georges Bay not far from Antigonish\, Nova Scotia. Prosper served as Chief of his community for twelve years and is presently an elected Councilor. Kerry is currently the research coordinator for the Paq’tnekek First Nation in the Social Research for Sustainable Fisheries project In this role\, he works with the Paq’tnekek Fish and Wildlife Society and St. Francis Xavier University. \n  \n  \n
